Quality — sourcing guide
The 10-point China supplier vetting checklist
June 29, 2026 · by Buy Everything From China
Before a first order, run the supplier through this 10-point check. It takes an afternoon and prevents most disasters.
- Business license. Verify the registered name, scope, and that it is active.
- Factory or trader? Ask directly, then confirm; both are fine but differ in price and control.
- Product match. Do they actually make your category?
- Capacity. Monthly output and whether your volume is routine for them.
- Certifications. The specific ones your market needs, with proof not claims.
- Samples. Quality, consistency, and adherence to your spec.
- Communication. Speed, clarity, and the questions they ask you.
- Track record. Export experience to your market.
- QC process. In-house inspection, and will they allow a third-party check?
- Payment and terms. Reasonable deposit, balance against inspection, traceable channels.
Score each point. Strong on product and QC but average on communication is workable; dodging the license, certification, or inspection questions is not. We run this on every shortlisted factory before you commit.
